Marty reports that his honor’s project essay has been published in the 2012 issue of Franklin County History, the journal of the Franklin County (PA) Historical Society. His article is entitled: “‘All had one thought in mind…were these soldiers to be our conquerors, and if so, what will be our fate?’: The Gettysburg Campaign and Franklin County, Pennsylvania.” Congratulations, Marty. Here are some pics:
Marty is currently a student in the Shippensburg University M.A. program in Applied History. He just finished a course called “Museum Education” in which he wrote a paper on how the town of Carlisle responded to the news of General Lee’s surrender at Gettysburg. This Spring he will be taking a course on “Battlefield Preservation” which will focus on the Gettysburg battlefield.
It looks as if Marty is becoming quite the celebrity in his hometown of Greencastle. He was recently approached by an unknown lady in the grocery store who wanted to know if he was the person who recently had a paper published by the Franklin County Historical Society. As the above image points out, Marty is on the Board of Directors at the Allison-Antrim Museum in Greencastle.

Kudos, Marty!
