The Changing Career Landscape for PhDs in History

Last week, I briefly noted an article about the changing landscape of employment for law school graduates.  In this morning’s Chronicle of Higher Education, historians Anthony Grafton (president of the American Historical Association) and Jim Grossman (executive director of the same organization) discuss the opportunities for employment for PhDs in history besides becoming college professors.  If you plan on applying to graduate school, this would be a useful editorial to read.  You’ll get a sense of the challenges of today’s job market for historians but also the many new opportunities for employment in a changing world.
