Museum Education Internship at The Hershey Story
The Hershey Story: The Museum on Chocolate Avenue located in Hershey, Pennsylvania seeks a qualified intern to assist with coordinating, teaching and planning educational programs.
The intern will experience a wide range of museum education responsibilities including helping to supervise young adult volunteers, assisting with summer camp programs and interacting with families visiting the museum. The education intern will also have an opportunity to complete a project and become familiar with other museum functions, such as exhibit installation, collections care and marketing. Candidate will work an average of 20 hours per week for 10-15 weeks. Internship hours must be completed during operating hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Intern will assist in researching and planning a summer camp program for summer of 2013.
· College junior, senior or M.A. candidate in Museum Studies, American Studies, History, Anthropology or related field
· Experience working with the public
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
· Adequate transportation
Successful candidate should have an enthusiastic interest in working with children and families. Preference will be given to candidates who are pursuing a career in the museum field.
