Summary
The Virginia Historical Society, one of the country’s leading historical organizations, is looking for a creative, motivated professional to join our frontline staff. This position will be responsible for helping to fulfill the day to day operations involved with staffing the two VHS reception desks, as well as the museum shop. Responsibilities will include orienting visitors to the VHS, assisting customers with their purchases in the museum shop, as well as fulfilling other duties within the Institutional Advancement Division. Those duties may include: data entry, membership fulfillment, and staffing special events. The Virginia Historical Society is an equal opportunity employer.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary
• Customer service, sales, and cash handling skills
• Good computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Experience with HTML, web design, BlackBaud, or Convio a plus.
• Data entry skills
• Able to stay on task in a busy and sometimes noisy environment
• Undergraduate degree required

Physical Skills
• Able to stand for long periods at the desk
• Able to move quickly to assist customers and to retrieve merchandise from the back room stock
• Able to lift 30 pounds
