Drew University seeks a detail-oriented, self-starter for the position of Methodist Library and Archive Associate. The position is the administrator and security liaison for the Wilson Reading Room of the United Methodist Archives and History Center. The position functions as the public services representative for researchers using Drew University collections from the Methodist Library, Special Collections and University Archives. This position supports the library and archival work of the General Commission on Archives and History of The United Methodist Church.

Reporting to the Methodist Librarian and Coordinator of Special Collections, the Library and Archive Associate manages the Wilson Reading Room and also functions as research assistant, collection development assistant and website liaison for the Methodist Library. The position trains and supervises student workers and assists with the digitization efforts of the United Methodist Archives and History Center staff. The position also provides assistance as needed for the Methodist Librarian.


Bachelor’s degree preferred. 2-3 years of office experience expected. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical. Ability to lift 20 pounds is necessary in order to retrieve materials for researchers. Position requires proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and WordPress. A working knowledge of Internet, telephone, fax and email systems is also required. Some knowledge of the history and traditions of world Methodism is preferred.
