The Messiah College Department of History has an opening for a work-study student for the entire 2013-2014 academic year.
The student we hire will be expected to work five hours a week through the Fall 2013 semester, J-Term 2014 semester, and Spring 2014 semester. He or she will be paid at basic Messiah College work-study rates (7.25 an hour).
The applicant must be a history student with at least a 3.0 GPA. He or she should be responsible, trustworthy, enthusiastic, hard-working, organized, and a self-starter. Basic computer and word-processing skills (including Excel and PowerPoint) are essential. Experience with social media and video production (YouTube) is desired, but not required.
The work-study student will work closely with the Department Chair (who will serve as his or her supervisor) and the History Department faculty. He or she will be asked to perform a variety of tasks related to the life of the department. This could include: photocopying, checking out library books, helping faculty with research and/or teaching, preparing PowerPoint presentations, helping with department events (such as History Day, new student orientation, etc…), maintaining the department bulletin board, posting on the department Facebook page and blog, etc…
